Pebbles of Wisdom

A Mythic Reflection on the Chase That Never Ends

wrote this song because I kept thinking about Sisyphus, the man from Greek mythology who was condemned to push a boulder up a mountain forever, only to watch it roll back down again. It is such an old story, and yet it feels so human. How many times do we chase the next summit, thinking, Surely this time I will finally feel free, finally feel okay, finally arrive?

This song plays with that idea in a funny way. Every time Sisyphus leans against the boulder to catch his breath, the stone lights up like an ancient cosmic phone, and he accidentally “butt dials” philosophy. Marcus Aurelius, Voltaire, Camus, and Viktor Frankl each show up with a little wisdom for him. Not a grand answer. Not a perfect solution. Just a pebble. Something small enough to hold.

That became the heart of the song for me. Maybe wisdom does not always arrive as one big revelation. Maybe it comes in little pieces: a moment of awareness, a laugh, a question, a pause, a different way of seeing the same old mountain.

Pebbles of Wisdom is about the chase that never ends, the arrival fallacy, and the strange, beautiful absurdity of being human. The mountain may still be a mountain. The boulder may still be a boulder. But maybe we do not have to keep asking the summit to tell us we are okay.

AND sometimes that rock cracks open just enough to give us something we can carry.
